July morning - keep your glasses away from the fire!

july morning

Our funny stories don't stop here, it's time for another dose of laughter.

You wonder what fire and glasses can have in common. Actually, it's the close range. In today's spirit and how important it is to keep our distance from each other, it turns out the same goes for staying away from fire when wearing glasses.

It all started on the night of July morning. I got an offer on the phone for a night camping on the beach. It was a great decision.

However, every June 30 versus July 1, many people gather along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast to welcome the sunrise together. The holiday is the embodiment of the forbidden - a protest against the authorities and a struggle for freedom. July 1 is perceived by the celebrants as the summer new year, which marks the beginning of something new. The name of the holiday is associated with the famous song "July Morning" by the English rock group "Jurah Heap" from 1971.

So, giddy with the exciting adventure ahead, I had to get a tent.

I stopped by the local store to stock up on everything I needed. After much deliberation, I already had a tent, a sleeping bag and a lamp, and one would wonder what I was doing. This would be my first night in the open.

I was quite excited. I decided to put on my prescription glasses so I wouldn't have to carry contact lenses, solution and container. I was convinced that this was the right decision.

The next morning it turned out not to be.

We loaded the luggage into the car and headed for the sea.

The evening was progressing and I could already smell the aroma of a barbecue and a blazing fire.

We arrived and pitched the tents. For a first time I did pretty well. I didn't even notice when two hours had passed, and they were supposed to be easy to assemble.

I was now relieved that I would not sleep directly under the stars. I settled down near the fire to warm myself. I could feel my skin turning red, but I liked it. I love the heat. At that point I forgot about my glasses, they were always a part of me anyway.

We had fun, all evening I felt the spirit of camping and the approaching "holiday". It was great. The night progressed and the beautiful sunrise came, followed by sleep time. My vision was blurry the whole time and I thought it was from the blinding sun. I lay blissfully in the new sleeping bag, which I realized a little later, how much warmth it holds. Of course I got a little angry at him.

A few hours later it was time to get up. I folded the tent, loaded the luggage into the car and continued to see, still blurry. Then I thought my glasses were dirty and I would have to give them a good wash at home.

After a few hours of travel, I returned home. I got down to deep cleaning the windows, but the blurred vision haunted me. When I reached out with the glasses in it and looked through them at the lamp I saw that there was something wrong with the lenses. Due to my lack of knowledge, I wasn't sure what the problem was. I was optimistic and decided that the soot stains and needed professional cleaning at an optician.

I went to the one closest to my house.

When I walked into the store I headed for the first consultant I saw. I showed him my glasses. And he kindly said:

 – The antireflex coating has cracked.

Of course, you can imagine the face I made. Again, I didn't know what that meant. Sometimes I think that opticians think of us customers as some kind of minerals who have no idea what world they are in.

Fortunately for me, this professional was well-intentioned and explained in detail that this kind of thing happens when we leave, for example, our sunglasses in the car. Coatings are susceptible to heat and spoil, simply put.

I thought that if they polished them everything would be fine. Yes, but no. The only solution for me was to replace the glasses with new ones. So, I ordered new lenses.

Since then, when I go camping, I put in contact lenses to make sure that my passion for the campfire will not ruin another pair of glasses.

In general, the observed incidents are countless. And they all end up the same way, with new glasses. But I try to look at things positively, right, opticians are people and they have to eat. And I learn something new every time. Now that I feel more hot and I put my glasses in a safe place. I also avoid keeping my sunglasses in the car, as in addition to the lenses, I can also ruin the frames. It is logical at high temperature the plastic to be deformed, but I have never looked with these eyes at my glasses.

Over time, I started to be more responsible and take better care of my eyes and glasses.
